Zackhras returned to Majuro from Washington to take up the Chief of Staff for the Office of the President’s post until October 2003

October of 2003 he announced his bid to represent the people of Namdrik in the Nitijela (Parliament). After a successful election Mr. Zackhras was appointed to the Cabinet to the portfolio of the Ministry of Public Works-Minister of Public Works.
He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Marshall Energy Company and as Secretary on the National Telecommunications Authority Board.
