Majuro-April 22, 2009 (good time and date opening)
Ambassador Bruce J. D. Linghu of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented a check in the amount of TWO MILLION AND SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND US DOLLARS ($2,750,000.00) to Honorable John Silk, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Honorable Jack Ading, Minister of Finance at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The said amount is for the second quarter of 2009 Republic of China (Taiwan) Annual Grant to the Republic of the Marshall Islands Government.
A press release from the Taiwan Embassy in Majuro stated: “The People and Government of the ROC (Taiwan) along with its Embassy in Majuro sincerely wish the above-mentioned Grant could contribute to the welfare of the Marshallese people and the prioritized projects of the RMI Government.”
The said prioritized projects of the RMI Government are as follows:
(1) Budgetary Support (US$1,000,000.00)
(2) Disaster Matching (US$57,034.50)
(3) Outer Islands Runway Renovation (US$87,250.00)
(4) MIDB Rural Development (US$62,500.00)
(5) Infrastructure Capital Maintenance Fund (US$150,592.25)
(6) RMI-USP MoU (US$12,500.00)
(7) MIVA (US$25,000.00)
(8) Micronesian Legal Service (US$25,000.00)
(9) ADB Loan Repayment (Capital Projects) (US$319,788.25)
(10) Prior Year Liabilities (US$121,756.00)
(11) Nitijela Renovation Projects (US$12,500.00)
(12) Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation (US$18,750.00)
(13) Airline of the Marshall Islands Subsidy (US$25,000.00)
(14) National Energy Support Account (US$349,829.00)
(15) Majuro Court House Renovation (US$20,000.00)
(16) RMI Overseas Renovation (US$25,000.00)
(17) Airline of the Marshall Islands Parts & Operation (US$100,000.00)
(18) Construction/Renovation (Capital Building) (US$175,000.00)
(19) Ministry of Internal Affairs Renovation Project (US$25,000.00)
(20) Wotje Court House & Police Building Renovation (US$50,000.00)

Minister Silk thanked the people and government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the continual support and assistance to the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The donation ceremony was witnessed by Secretary Kino Kabua of Foreign Affairs and other RMI officials, and Herbert Hsu, First Secretary of the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy.
