Position Title: Auditor-General
Salary: $40,000 Per Annum
Location: Office of the Auditor-General Majuro Republic of the Marshall Islands

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Auditor-General is charged with the responsibility of auditing “the public funds and accounts of the Marshall Islands including those of all Department or offices of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government and of any other public corporation or other statutory authority constituted under the law of the Marshall Islands unless, in relation to any such public corporation or other statutory authority, provision is made by Act for audit by any other person”.
The Auditor-General is required under the constitution to report, “at least once annually to the Nitijela at its regular session”. The Auditor-General Act of 1986 provides that the Auditor-General shall transmit a semi-annual report to each member of the Nitijela at its January and August regular session of each year.
In addition to these constitutional responsibilities, the Local Government Act of 1980, provided for local governments to designate the Auditor-General as cognizant auditor and twenty-three local governments have elected to do so. Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Selected laws and regulations specifically provide other duties and responsibilities of the Auditor-General. That is, the Auditor-General shall: a).Examine all appeals of decisions made by the Chief of Procurement and Supply in connection with any protest in the solicitation and award of a contract (MIRC Title 44 – Government Procurement Code)
b).Enforce the governments Ethics Code Act of 1992, which includes, (i) overseeing the submission of the statement of financial interest by reporting individuals, and (ii) initiating, receiving, investigating and issuing opinions on complaints of violations of the Ethics Code. Qualifications:
Must be a Certified Public Accountant or Chartered
Accountant with no less than three (3) years experience; or a person who has worked in a Certified Public Accounting firm or a firm of Chartered Accountants for a period of not less than five (5) years in a supervisory capacity; or a person with a knowledge of accounting and auditing theory and procedures and experience in government or governmental organizations as an accountant or auditor for not less than ten (10) years; or a person with knowledge of accounting and auditing theory and procedures and experience in private organizations as a an accountant or auditor or both in government and private organizations for not less than twenty (20) years.
